Glossophobia, the fear of public speaking, is often ranked above fear of heights, spiders, or even death. Glossophobia is also typically accompanied by fear of failure and social rejection. All are barriers that can limit a person’s confidence, opportunities, and success throughout life.

That is why The Speech Collective is so important. Since 2023, we have been teaching children public speaking skills with our proprietary TSC Curriculum, giving them the tools to confront these fears before they become overwhelming.

Through supportive games, storytelling exercises, and group encouragement, kids learn how to take their thoughts and translate them into words that captivate audiences. They build confidence not only to speak in front of a class, but also to raise their hand, share their views, and stand up for themselves and their ideas. Kids discover their voices matter, while teen mentors gain the experience of leading, teaching, and listening.

Together, we build communities where courage is contagious and self-expression is celebrated.

If we can help kids overcome one of the world’s greatest fears while they are still young, we open doors that will benefit them for the rest of their lives, creating better leaders for the future of tomorrow.

The Speech Collective Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 33-1578057).

Madeleine Delbridge

Founder / President

Madeleine Delbridge is a performing artist, published writer, and youth advocate who believes that finding your voice can change your life.

Rooted in her theatre and public speaking background, she designed and created the TSC Curriculum, a proprietary approach that optimizes the teaching experience for our student leaders and maximizes the effectiveness and fun of the workshop for the children.

She founded The Speech Collective in 2023 to help young people build confidence through storytelling and self-expression, beginning with free library workshops taught by teen mentors to empower young children to share their stories aloud.

The program has since been recognized by the United Nations Association for its work advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and was featured at UN Day 2024. Blending creativity with community service, The Speech Collective connects teens and children through the simple but transformative act of speaking, listening, and being heard.

Madeleine envisions a world where every young person, no matter where they come from, has the confidence to speak up, the empathy to listen, and the imagination to lead.

“When people believe their words matter, they begin to believe they matter, and that belief changes everything.”

- Maddie Delbridge
